My pastor asked me and everyone in the congregation to ask ourselves what money means to each of us. I sat there and thought these things:
- Security – a roof over my head and AC. (For those of use in Texas, you know what I mean)
- Ability to do what I want – nothing extravagant, but if I want to buy a book, or shoes…I’d like to be able to do that without worrying about the mortgage
- Education beyond public school for my kids, college, piano lessons, good working boots (for Kelly)
- Retirement – seems like fiction to me….but yes, eventually, retirement
These are a general selection of items…there are, of course, more…..good medical and dental care…..
Ughhh…why does money – or lack of it – cause SO MUCH STRESS!? Don’t get me wrong, I am not a socialist…more of an idealist, who, without a true grasp of how much money I actually need, maintains an appreciation that I ACTUALLY need money to survive in this world…and also abhors of the fact that ANYONE needs money at all…
Where are my butterflies? Aren’t they free?
(BTW, if anyone gets the reference, please leave a comment)
