We had dinner Saturday night with all the Tuggey boys in tow, including the senior senor of them all, Jim Tuggey. It was Matt’s 50th birthday celebration and it was so nice to see all the brothers together with their mom and dad….until they started talking politics. I have to state right here and now, I have never liked to discuss politics….so we’ll go with that premise or the rest of this post.
Now, while I will not reveal the topics that were discussed or the opinions stated, I will, however, reveal the fervorant state with which these opinions were expressed. The amplitude of emotions and decibles with notwithstanding….I couldn’t follow a bit of it. The conversation bounded from subject to subject….and back again….all louder and louder…Andy finally out “louding” everyone else….
After a few attempts to join the conversation with her own captivating stories, and gaining the attention of the table only after her vocal father, gave way…Grace gave up trying to include herself in the discussion (a term I use with complete sarcasm – it always becomes a “who’s loudest” competition rather than an actual give and take discussion – in my opinion).
A few uncomfortable conversations came into play and Kelly tried her best to change subjects, throwing out a “How ’bout them Cowboys..” every once in a while…
I had Grace at my shoulder, poor child, bored with all this “adult” talk and those who know her know she speaks like a 40 year old sometimes. She was desparately trying to entertain herself…therefore distracting me…thank GOD!
I love my Tuggey family – immediate and extended, but they wear me out…
Love you all! ~ Amy (…by the way, Andy never reads this blog)
