Big Wheel Keep on Turning…

I love this song, the joie de vive and the sense freedom it instills in me on a summer day…

I have been on a river boat and to those of you who have not? I highly recommend it, especially if you are stressed….the movement is slow and steady and if you are near New Orleans, a fruity drink on the deck and some slow jazz will put you in a near coma state.

We didn’t stop except to tour a fort from the Civil War…(this trip was in 1988)…so I didn’t get a chance to find some people who lived by the river who are happy to give….I am sure they are there.

It was only a 2 hour cruise up and down the Mississippi, but it was memorable.

Left a good job in the city,Workin’ for The Man every night and day,

And I never lost one minute of sleepin’,

Worryin’ ’bout the way things might have been.

CHORUS:

Big wheel keep on turnin’,
Proud Mary keep on burnin’,
Rollin’, rollin’, rollin’ on the river.

Cleaned a lot of plates in Memphis,
Pumped a lot of ‘tane down in New Orleans,
But I never saw the good side of the city,
‘Til I hitched a ride on a river boat queen.

CHORUS

Rollin’, rollin’, rollin’ on the river.

If you come down to the river,
Bet you gonna find some people who live.
You don’t have to worry though you have no money,
People on the river are happy to give.

CHORUS

Rollin’, rollin’, rollin’ on the river.
Rollin’, rollin’, rollin’ on the river.
Rollin’, rollin’, rollin’ on the river.
